Graves Electrical Services, Inc. assisted with the installation of 230 kV inductors at the Andytown Substation in Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 2022. Inductors are an important element in a substation as they regulate and lower any fault current or surges that a substation might experience. The Inductor itself lowers the fault current, but they are usually coupled with a taming capacitor to balance the current. These large drums stand on legs outfitted with insulators and increase safety while reducing the risk of damage to the substation.
